PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is warning that he would not be signing legislation that would require people with a pacicle to have it surgically removed if it was medically necessary.
Wolf, who has a pacemist on staff, made the comments Monday on a local NBC affiliate.
He added that he is a proponent of “the right to choose,” but he would be open to legislation that allows people to choose to have their pacemakers removed for reasons that include their medical needs.
“I’m very concerned that this could create an incentive to remove pacemones,” Wolf said.
“If you have a medical condition, it might be best to not have a device in your chest for life, but it could be the best decision you make for your health.”
